Do I need a driver’s license, registration, or insurance to legally ride Elby?

Since Elby’s hybrid assist tops out at 20mph, you don’t need a driving license, state vehicle registration or insurance coverage to enjoy Elby. The road is open, just make sure you ride respectfully and obey the current bicycle laws in your community.

Can I carry an Elby electric bike on my car or vehicle bike rack?

Of course you can! But just make sure the rack you use is designed and rated to carry heavier bicycles. All the major rack companies publish their specifications. And in the coming months, we’re going to test a few and we’ll be sure to let you know which brands and models are best suited for carrying Elby on your car.

What kind of maintenance does this bike require?

Standard bicycle maintenance should be expected. However, both the motor and battery should not require maintenance.
